O semiquincentenário dos Estados Unidos está chegando. O país celebrará seu 250º aniversário em 4 de julho, e a General Cigar Co. está homenageando a data histórica com uma edição especial do CAO America. O novo charuto, chamado CAO America 250th Anniversary, é uma releitura prensada do charuto patriótico da CAO, feito exclusivamente com tabacos americanos. O lançamento nacional está previsto para 4 de maio.
“A CAO construiu sua reputação explorando tabacos de todo o mundo”, diz Cory Beardsley, gerente de marca da CAO. “Com o America 250th, focamos no que pode ser alcançado usando tabaco cultivado aqui mesmo nos EUA. É um charuto que permanece fiel ao que fez o America original se destacar, ao mesmo tempo que traz um novo nível de precisão à mistura.”
O CAO America 250th Anniversary mede 5 1/2 polegadas por 55 de bitola e vem em um único formato prensado chamado Robusto. O charuto é um puro americano, enrolado apenas com tabacos cultivados nos EUA, o que é bastante incomum no mundo dos charutos premium. Como todos os charutos CAO America, ele é feito com duas folhas de capa: um contraste de tabaco Broadleaf escuro contra uma listra espiral mais clara de Connecticut Shade que cria um efeito de poste de barbeiro. Por dentro, o charuto apresenta o que a General Motors chama de capote “Havana Connecticut dos EUA” e um blend de tabacos Broadleaf e Pennsylvania no miolo.
O CAO America original estreou em 2007. É composto por duas capas, mas é feito de uma mistura muito mais internacional — capote brasileiro e miolo da República Dominicana, Itália, Nicarágua e Estados Unidos.
O CAO America 250th Anniversary é produzido na fábrica STG Estelí, na Nicarágua. Os charutos têm um preço sugerido de US$ 9,99 cada e serão vendidos em caixas de 10 unidades. Embora seja anunciada como uma edição limitada, a quantidade produzida ainda não foi divulgada.
